‘Cheater’ infiltrates new College Football Playoff logo contest
The new College Football Playoff logo campaign hit a snag Wednesday when what was termed a “cheater” cast 50,251 votes for logo No. 4.
Fans have until Monday to cast votes for the new logo at https://www.collegefootballplayoff.com/.
The contractor running the logo vote informed college football officials meeting this week in Pasadena the suspect Internet provider address was from Austin, Texas. Voting more than once was “in violation of our contest rules.”
A statement on the hacking was released on a generic white sheet of paper, which falls in line with the ambiguous simplicity of the sport’s new name for its postseason championship. The College Football Playoff will replace the Bowl Championship Series after this season.
The release stated the IP address was blocked and that all of the violater’s votes had been removed from the tally.
The updated tally reflected logo No. 2 was leading with 38%, followed by logo three (27%), logo one (26%) and logo four (9%).
