Clippers hold off late rally to defeat Pistons, 112-103
The Clippers held on for a 112-103 win in Detroit on Monday, led by Jamal Crawford’s 26 points off the bench.
The Clippers led by 18 points with 6:28 to go in the fourth quarter, but Detroit scored the next nine points to cut the lead to 105-96, with just over two minutes to play.
But a dunk by DeAndre Jordan broke the Clippers’ dry spell. Then a steal by Blake Griffin, followed by a three-pointer by Crawford, made it 110-98 with 55 seconds to go.
Jordan had a double-double, scoring 16 points with 21 rebounds, although he missed all six of his free throws. Griffin scored 25 points.
Clippers Coach Doc Rivers shuffled his starting lineup, inserting Matt Barnes at small forward instead of Jared Dudley. Barnes scored 10 points in 27 minutes, while Dudley added seven points.
The Clippers (29-14) took charge of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Pistons, 38-25.
The Clippers next game is in Charlotte on Wednesday.
