"Jingle bell, jingle bells, jingle ... hey guys, I need some backup here," said the frustrated singer.
Hey, creative differences among the band members ... we get that.
But behind the "music" were the Washington Capitals and the "singer" was Russian superstar Alex Ovechkin. The Capitals' Christmas video came out on Thursday, hit the Internet and charmed hockey fans and lovers of truly hideous holiday garb.
Make sure you watch the whole thing, a clip of one minute and six seconds. The breakout star, really, is the smiling tambourine-playing Swedish center Niklas Backstrom.
(No one has quite played the instrument that well since young Tracy on the "Partridge Family." I suspect Backstrom has a lot more to say than Tracy ever did).
Then there are these outtakes that were also posted.
That isn't the only Christmas video offering so far around the NHL. The Nashville Predators also have released a video Christmas greeting, which debuted at the Predators game on Nov. 25. Rookie defenseman Seth Jones plays the monster guitar and Kevin Klein looks like a moody, highly believable rocker.
What also is an epic sight is goalie Carter Hutton on the drums, wearing a blond wig. We'll leave it at that -- no more spoiler alerts.
