Ndamukong Suh could be next athlete represented by Jay Z

Ndamukong Suh has a big payday coming up.

The Detroit Lions defensive tackle, who has 135 tackles and 27.5 sacks in four seasons, just needs the right representation to make sure it’s as big as it could possibly be.

A growing number of big-name athletes -- including Victor Cruz, Geno Smith, CC Sabathia, Robinson Cano and Kevin Durant -- have chosen rapper-turned-sports-agent Jay Z and his Roc Nation Sports management company to take care of that sort of business for them.

And Suh could be next. ESPN is reporting that the three-time Pro Bowler is expected to announce “some type of agreement” with Jay Z and Roc Nation.

Suh, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Lions, left his former agency, Relativity Sports, last month.

According to the report, it’s unclear whether Jay Z would be involved in negotiating Suh’s new contract or helping him with marketing opportunities.

Given Suh’s reputation as a dirty player -- he has been fined eight times and suspended by the league twice -- the latter might be the tougher of the two tasks. His website mentions “partnerships with companies Subway and Nike.”

Suh is scheduled to have a base salary of $12.55 million next season.
