Pac-12 media day: UCLA’s Jim Mora says Penn State players have reached out

Share

UCLA Coach Jim Mora said Tuesday that a “few” Penn State players have contacted the school, though he would not specify which ones.

In the wake of NCAA sanctions, Penn State players are eligible to play for another school without sitting out a year.

“I think we have to proceed with haste and caution at the same time,” Mora said. “We don’t have a lot of familiarity with a lot of their players. We went through their roster, and so many of them are from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. They don’t have a lot of guys from Texas or Georgia.”

Mora said he was contacted through third parties and has his assistant coaches vetting those players.

“There are particular positions that we would want to look at a little more closely than others,” Mora said. “We had a few players reach out yesterday afternoon. But nothing has been done. We want make sure we’re within rules before we do anything.”

UCLA could use experienced help in the secondary and on the offensive line.
