USC linebacker Devon Kennard sat out last season while recovering from surgery for a torn chest muscle

The fifth-year senior was elected a team captain this season and he continued to play a leading role Friday in USC’s 31-14 victory over Oregon State at Reser Stadium.

Kennard had both of USC’s sacks, taking down Beavers quarterback Sean Mannion for a total of 20 yards in losses.

Kennard now has nine tackles for losses and a team-leading seven sacks.

Sophomore end Leonard Williams has 11 tackles for losses and five sacks.

Williams also blocked a field-goal attempt on Oregon State’s first possession.
