Watch UFC fighter face-plant after Keita Nakamura puts him in chokehold

Sudden, brutal knockouts are usually the type of stoppages that get the Ultimate Fighting Championship included in highlight reels.

On Saturday night at UFC Fight Night from Japan, however, fans were treated to a different type of finish that astonished.

Japan welterweight Keita Nakamura produced a rear chokehold that shocked the entire crowd and rendered his opponent, Li Jingliang, unconscious and face-first on the mat in a strong contender for martial arts submission of the year.

The dramatic bout began with both men swinging in an action-packed battle that witnessed plenty of momentum swings.

Nakamura appeared on the verge of losing in the second round when Jingliang tagged his exhausted opponent with heavy shots before he was able to get back on his feet and survive the round.

In the third, both combatants exchanged heavy blows, which appeared to give Jingliang an advantage when Nakamura went for a takedown and suddenly reversed course, taking Jingliang’s back and locking him in the rear chokehold.

Jingliang rose to his feet and attempted to escape before suddenly crumbling in lifeless fashion and face-planting on the mat.
