White Sox cut struggling shortstop Jimmy Rollins

The Chicago White Sox designated shortstop Jimmy Rollins for assignment and called up top prospect Tim Anderson

The White Sox purchased Anderson's contract from triple-A Charlotte on Friday, hoping the shortstop can help jolt a team that has gone from leading the AL Central with a 23-10 record to fourth with a 30-30 record entering this weekend's series against Kansas City. 

The 22-year-old Anderson batted .304 with four home runs and 20 RBIs in 55 games with Charlotte.
