Kelly Rallies the Gamblers Past Denver, 36-17
Associated Press
HOUSTON —
Jim Kelly passed for 433 yards and four touchdowns to rally the Houston Gamblers to a 36-17 United States Football League victory over Denver Monday night.
Kelly’s final touchdown pass was a nine-yarder to Clarence Verdin on a drive that included the first official call to be overruled by an instant replay screen in the USFL.
Kelly’s 53-yard pass completion to Verdin was at first ruled good, but an instant replay showed Verdin out of bounds and the play was called back.
