For Montreal third baseman Tim Wallach, the drought is over.

Wallach hit a three-run home run, Andre Dawson had a two-run homer and Hubie Brooks drove in four runs Friday to power the Expos to their fourth straight victory, a 10-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Wallach’s homer was his first since August 16, 1984.

“There was no pressure on me, but it was in the back of my mind,” Wallach said. “It sure felt good because I don’t think I hit a home run in the last 40 games (actually 42) last season and I didn’t hit any in spring training.

“I know people were saying, ‘When is he finally going to hit one?’ For that reason, it sure felt good.”

The Cardinals, as usual, had their running game going, collecting five stolen bases in the loss.

“Our strongest point this season is our base running,” St. Louis manager Whitey Herzog said. “Too bad we can’t trade some of those stolen bases in for a win.
