Kenny Knox shot a four-under-par 68 Saturday at Tallahassee, Fla., to take a one-stroke lead over Gary Player with a 201 after three rounds of the Tallahassee Open.

Player matched Knox’s 68 to set up a head-to-head matchup in today’s final round.

“I’m hitting the ball so solidly I feel like I can hit the ball anywhere I want,” Knox said after his five-birdie, one-bogey round.

Second-round leader Jeff Sluman, who had consecutive 65s in the first two rounds, had a 74 to fall into a tie with Bob Tway for third place at 204.

Lori Garbacz weathered the gusty winds that sent scores soaring in the $200,000 Women’s Invitational at Moss Creek Plantation on Hilton Head Island, S.C., and emerged with a par 72 and a one-stroke lead going into the final round.

Garbacz sank a seven-foot putt for a birdie on the final hole for a three-round total of 214. Amy Alcott was at 215, while Patty Sheehan, Sally Quinlan and Nancy Lopez were tied for third at 216.

Seve Ballesteros of Spain had eight consecutive birdies en route to an eight-under-par 64 that left him one shot behind Sam Torrance of Great Britain and Manuel Pinero of Spain after three round of the Italian Open at Milan, Italy.

Torrance was alone in first place after the second round, but he shot a 69 and was caught at 201 by Pinero, who had a 66.
