Perez KOs Cabrera
Ramon Perez halted the comeback of David (Maceton) Cabrera with a first-round knockout Thursday night in their scheduled 10-round light-heavyweight fight at the Olympic Auditorium.
Perez, of the Dominican Republic, landed a right-hand lead that stunned Cabrera and added a left hook to the body as Cabrera fell to the canvas. The 41-year-old Mexican fighter was unable to rise before referee Kenny Davis counted him out at 31 seconds of the round.
Cabrera, who weighed 175 for his first fight in over a year, saw his record fall to 34-11, while Perez, 174, improved his mark to 20-6 with 14 knockouts.
In a semi-main event, Gary Williams of Pomona knocked out Denny Quintero of Culiacan, Mexico, in the first round of their scheduled 10-round junior-welterweight bout.
