Share

Loyola Marymount University will be seeking to avenge last season’s loss to Brooklyn College when the Lions play host to the Kingsmen tonight in a nonconference game at Gersten Pavilion at 7:30.

The Kingsmen are 5-0 at home but 1-4 on the road, including a 72-44 loss Monday at Nebraska. The six victories are the most Brooklyn has had before Christmas since upgrading to Division I in 1982.

Brooklyn is led by 6-foot 8-inch forward David Grady, who is averaging 20 points and 9.5 rebounds. Three other players average double figures: forward Rodger Laing (11.4), center Adam Weinstein (10.4) and guard Spious Kilpatrick (11.9).

Loyola Coach Paul Westhead said Brooklyn will probably hold the ball to try to slow down the Lions (4-3), who are averaging 107.3 points but allowing 94.3. Loyola is led by Hank Gathers (25.9), Corey Gaines (21.6), Mike Yoest (15.9) and Bo Kimble, who had 28 points in his first game last week.
