North Hollywood’s Ruelas Records Third 1st-Round KO
North Hollywood featherweight Gabriel Ruelas does not appear to have much of a future on television.
It has nothing to do with his boxing skills. It has everything to do with his commercial appeal.
The problem is, when Ruelas fights, there is no time for commercials. Or much of anything else.
The newest member of the Ten Goose Boxing Club stopped Willie Garcia of San Diego at 2:47 of the first round of a scheduled 4-round bout Tuesday night at El Cortez Convention Center in San Diego.
It was the fourth fight for the unbeaten Ruelas and the third that has ended in the first round.
Garcia (10-10-2), after taking a couple of hard right hands, went down after taking a left to the body. Referee Vince Delgado then stopped the fight.
Both men had weighed in at 124.
Ruelas’ first first-round knockout came after just 24 seconds, his second after 37. He won his first fight by decision.
