POP MUSIC : SPRING ALBUM ROUNDUP : In Brief
*** Mint Condition, “Meant to Be Mint,” A&M.; Serious singing is what Mint Condition is about, though much of this album doesn’t work at all--it’s too lackluster and unfocused. On “Are You Free” and “Try My Love,” however, all the pieces fit. This youthful sextet proves that it really does have style galore and the most masterful, outrageous harmonies this side of Take 6 and Boyz II Men.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor) to four (excellent).
