Los Amigos Coach Roger Takahashi had planned to unleash the right arm of quarterback Ape Tuato on Thursday night against Santa Ana. But before Takahashi got a chance to look at his game plan, the game was over.

Los Amigos scored four touchdowns in the first 13 minutes and rolled to a 41-0 victory over Santa Ana in front of about 750 at Garden Grove High. Tuato got in some work, completing five of seven passes for 97 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough for Takahashi.

“I know we can throw the ball because we did it well over the summer,” Takahashi said. “Ape could have had a big game passing, but it got so out of hand.

“We want to be balanced, but right now we are just rushing well. We’re going to need to throw when we get to big games and the playoffs.”

Los Amigos (3-0) doesn’t figure to have a big game until Oct. 14, when it plays at Rancho Alamitos. Until then, Tuato probably will have to get his throwing done before halftime.

Lobo running back Greg Fausto scored three touchdowns and ran for 97 yards in 11 carries before backup Roger Calvillo took over. Calvillo rushed seven times for 78 yards and a touchdown.

“We know Roger has the ability,” Takahashi said. “He’s more of a power runner than Greg. We might be able to use him on short yardage situations in the future.”

There were few short-yardage situations Thursday night, though. The Lobos never punted and scored on six of their first seven possessions.

Meanwhile, Santa Ana (0-3) fumbled twice, had one pass intercepted, never crossed the Los Amigos 20-yard line and failed on five of six fourth-down situations.

Running back Omar Gomez was the lone bright spot, rushing for 72 yards in 17 carries.
