NBA ROUNDUP : West Loses No. 8 Spot to Wilkins

Dominique Wilkins had a benchmark night and Dee Brown tied his best night ever Tuesday in leading the Boston Celtics to a 126-115 victory in Miami.

Wilkins scored 19 points, moving him past Jerry West into eighth place on the all-time NBA scoring list. Wilkins has 25,209 points, West 25,192.

Brown scored 41 points, made five three-point shots and provided the spark that helped the Celtics overcome a 14-point deficit.

“When I missed my first three or four shots, I said, ‘Man, this is going to be a long game,’ ” said Brown, who settled down and made 15 of 22 shots.

OTHER GAMES

Mitch Richmond scored 35 points, including 14 of 14 free throws, and the Kings overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat Orlando, 117-106, at Sacramento. . . . Jeff Hornacek scored 31 points, getting the last two on two quick technical fouls on Charles Barkley in the fourth quarter, to help Utah win, 111-102, at Phoenix. . . . Mookie Blaylock scored 28 points and Steve Smith added 24 as Atlanta won at Portland, 102-91. . . . Jamal Mashburn scored 21 points to lead five Mavericks in double figures in Dallas, where they defeated Milwaukee, 114-93. . . . Chris Mullin scored 25 points and Latrell Sprewell had 23 for Golden State, which won, 127-113, over the Nets at East Rutherford, N.J.

NBA Notes

The Boston Celtics placed Rick Fox on the injured list and signed Tony Dawson, the CBA’s second-leading scorer. . . . The NBA fined Atlanta Hawk forward Ken Norman $4,000 for failing to leave the court promptly after being ejected from Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bulls.
