Ohrel, Pulido Lead Sailors Past Warriors
Ray Ohrel and Danny Pulido each scored two touchdowns to help Newport Harbor, ranked ninth in Orange County, defeat Woodbridge, 50-7, in a Sea View League football game Thursday at Irvine High.
Newport Harbor (9-1, 4-1 in league) finished second in the league behind fifth-ranked Santa Margarita (9-1, 5-0). Santa Margarita, which defeated Newport Harbor in the league opener, beat Corona del Mar, 55-27, to clinch the league title Thursday.
Woodbridge finished 0-10, 0-5.
Ohrel, who rushed for 91 yards in 19 carries, scored on runs of four and five yards in the first quarter to help the Sailors build a 17-0 lead.
Joe Urban returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and Pulido caught his first of two scoring passes--a 13-yarder--to give the Sailors a 30-point halftime lead.
Newport Harbor quarterback Josiah Fredriksen, who completed 11 of 21 passes for 221 yards, tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Pulido to give the Sailors a 36-0 lead. Pulido finished with five receptions for 130 yards.
