Beck is getting elaborate backing for his performance of “Where It’s At” on the Grammy telecast Feb. 26. The Dust Brothers, who produced his “Odelay” album, are collaborating with Alan Elliott (who composes the music for the NBC comedy “The Naked Truth” and is in the band Earl Jones, recently signed by DreamWorks Records) on orchestral arrangements. But don’t expect as dramatic a change from the original as Alanis Morissette’s Grammy version of “You Oughta Know” was last year. . . .

With plans being developed for the Fugees to star in “The Harder They Fall,” a sort-of sequel to the gangster/reggae cult film “The Harder They Come,” group member Whycliffe is moving ahead with his side project “multicultural” album. Among those he’s talking to for guest spots are salsa stars Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. . . .

Former Arrested Development singer Dionne Farris--whose 1995 solo debut album won glowing reviews for its pop-soul-folk mix--is recording her follow-up in L.A. She also has a new song, “Hopeless,” which will be the first single from the soundtrack album for the film “Love Jones,” with a video being shot this weekend. . . .

John Fogerty has just completed his first album in 11 years. A title and release date have not been announced yet. . . . Silver Lake’s Lutefisk is planning to perform Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” in its entirety as part of a show at Hollywood Moguls on Feb. 22, celebrating the release of its album “Burn in Hell. . . .”
