HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS PLAYOFF ROUNDUP

Palm Desert 10, Westlake 8--Nina Yaftali (52-8) won two of three sets at No. 1 singles but it was not enough and the top-seeded Warriors were upset by defending champion Palm Desert (18-4) in a Division III semifinal match at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village.

Twins Brittany and Nicole Jensky (59-7) won two of three sets for Westlake (21-1).

Laguna Hills 12, Harvard-Westlake 6--Sophomore Steffi Berg and freshman Jessica Leck each won two of three singles sets for the second-seeded Wolverines in a Division III semifinal loss to the Hawks at Laguna Hills.

Jessica Prause swept in singles for the Hawks (19-2), defeating No. 1 Berg, 6-3, and No. 3 Leck, 7-5.

Chelsea Heller and Chelsea Dillon won one set at No. 1 doubles for Harvard-Westlake (20-4), runner-up in Division III last season.

The Wolverines’ No. 3 team of Katelyn Rader and Kelly Hanker also won one set.

Harvard-Westlake won 13 of its previous 14 matches.
