Those who have been procrastinating may register to vote today for the November general election without getting out of the car.

Midnight is the deadline to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 7 election. The drive-through registration, called “Midnight Madness,” is an effort to sign up those who want to avoid parking hassles or waiting in line.

The registrar-recorder/county clerk’s office and the California secretary of state will conduct the Los Angeles registration session at the Hollywood Bowl parking lot, 2301 N. Highland Ave.

Those wanting to register are asked to drive into the Hollywood Bowl’s main parking lot, on the west side of Highland, where staff members will have applications ready. Signs will be posted to direct drivers to the designated registration area.

The event will be held from 4 p.m. to midnight. The registrar’s office will also have forms and a deposit box available until midnight in its office lobby at 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk.

Other voter registration sites are scattered throughout the county, including designated post offices. The Election Information Section at (562) 466-1310 has information on locations for county residents.

Anyone seeking assistance in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog or Vietnamese may call (800) 481-8683.

To register, a person must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age by election day, a resident of Los Angeles County, and not in prison or on parole for conviction of a felony.
