Listen: Gwen Stefani returns with solo single ‘Baby Don’t Lie’
The hollaback girl is back.
Eight years after her last solo album, “The Sweet Escape,” Gwen Stefani released a new single under her own name Monday, the first offering from an album due later this year.
“Baby Don’t Lie” is a bouncy electro-pop song in which the singer pleads with a lover to stop hiding whatever he’s disguising behind his eyes.
“I don’t wanna fight no longer,” she sings, “I need a love that’s stronger.”
Stefani co-wrote “Baby Don’t Lie” with Benny Blanco, who co-produced the track (alongside Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella) and is serving as the executive producer on Stefani’s album, according to a recent report in Billboard.
Pharrell Williams, the singer’s co-star on “The Voice,” is also said to be contributing to the disc, which will follow Stefani’s reunion with her band No Doubt for 2012’s “Push and Shove.”
