Westbound 210 Freeway shut down near Newhall Pass after fatal collision
All lanes of the westbound 210 Freeway transition road to the northbound 5 Freeway in Sylmar were closed Monday afternoon after a fatal collision involving a big rig and several vehicles, authorities said.
The collision occurred shortly after 4 p.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Westbound motorists were blocked from entering the Newhall Pass and were being detoured onto the southbound 5 Freeway, officials said.
A person was found dead at the scene, but no identity was immediately available, Humphrey said.
The California Highway Patrol said the transition road would be closed for an unknown amount of time.
