San Diego police officer shot in car chase
A San Diego police officer was shot Thursday afternoon during what appears to have been a freeway chase with a wanted suspect, authorities said.
Police Chief Bill Lansdowne went to the hospital where the officer was taken. He told reporters that the officer was conscious and talking.
A suspect in the shooting is in custody, authorities said.
The circumstances behind the car chase through the mid-city area are unclear.
