Like hot chicken? Really hot chicken? The Howlin' Ray's Hot Chicken food truck pops up at Barrel and Ashes

Jesse Barber, who recently left Barnyard in Venice to work on his own restaurant and retail project Dudley Market, is making ramen.

Before the market opens next month, Barber will pop up at Japanese Knife Imports on Sunday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. with spot prawn and chicken miso ramen. The ramen is $22 and comes with a Kirin Ichiban beer. Reservations and tickets are required. Email to purchase tickets. 8642 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills

The new Howlin' Ray's Hot Chicken food truck will be at Barrel and Ashes in the San Fernando Valley on Monday. In addition to the regular Barrel and Ashes menu, Howlin' Ray's chef Johnny Zone will be serving hot chicken with white bread, pickles and a farmers market side for $12.

You can order your chicken Southern (no heat), mild or medium (touch of heat), hot (hot), howlin' hot (even hotter) or "hotter than a goat's ... in a pepper patch" (self-explanatory).

Sides include a pimento mac and cheese, charred cabbage slaw, fermented turnips and pickles, chilled cowpea salad, potato salad and more.

The hot chicken will be available from 5 to 10 p.m. Space is limited. Guests can reserve seats by calling (818) 623-8883. 11801 Ventura Blvd., Studio City,
