The torch Bruce Jenner carried in the run-up to the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles is heading to the auction block.

The 24-inch brass torch, which Jenner carried through Lake Tahoe, Nev., is being offered for auction by Heritage Auctions at its Platinum Night Sports Auction in Chicago on July 30. The 31-year-old torch could sell for $20,000 or more.

“This is the first major piece of Jenner memorabilia to surface and we expect collectors will find it every bit as significant as we think it is,” said Chris Ivy, director of sports auctions at Heritage.

Bob Lorsch, a Los Angeles entrepreneur and philanthropist, is selling the torch. He helped organize the torch run through Lake Tahoe in 1984. Jenner, the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion, ran the final leg of the torch’s trek through the resort town.

“As the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion, Jenner was the only celebrity runner designated during the 50-kilometer stretch that Caesars Tahoe sponsored,” Lorsch said.

Jenner, 65, made her public debut as Caitlyn Jenner last month in an article in Vanity Fair. Next week, Jenner will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for bravery at the ESPYs for publicly coming out as a transgender woman.
