USC football: Kiffins’ 2010 compensation revealed
USC football coach Lane Kiffin earned $2.4 million in 2010, and his father, Monte Kiffin, more than $1.5 million, according to a report in USA Today.
The figures were based on USC’s federal tax return and cover the period from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.
USC hired Lane Kiffin in January 2010 after Pete Carroll left to become coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Carroll had earned more than $4 million in his final season at USC. Lane Kiffin reportedly earned $2 million at Tennessee in 2009, his only season with the Volunteers.
Monte Kiffin, USC’s assistant head coach for defense, is likely the highest-paid assistant in college football, according to the report.
USC finished with an 8-5 record in 2010. The Trojans were 10-2 last season in the final year of a two-year bowl ban that was part of NCAA sanctions.
USC is regarded as a top contender for the Pacific 12 Conference and Bowl Championship Series titles.
