Boys’ basketball: It’s an impressive debut for freshman Ziaire Williams of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame unveiled 6-foot-5 freshman Ziaire Williams on Monday night, and he responded with 22 points, seven rebounds and three steals in a 61-47 victory over Woodbridge at Mission Viejo.

In the Maranatha tournament, Cantwell-Sacred Heart defeated Canyon, 80-40. Andre Fields had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Avery Martinez added 16 points.

Freshman Shemar Morrow scored 23 points in La Mirada 73-60 win over Long Beach Jordan.

Viewpoint opened with a 58-52 win over St. Genevieve. Michael Okparaocha had 17 points.

Brentwood defeated Culver City, 63-38. Braelee Albert had 23 points and JR Olofson 13.

Dorsey defeated Van Nuys, 52-45. Jon Staggers had 20 points and Brandon Crawford 15. In other Westchester tournament games, Hart defeated Rancho Dominguez, 75-38; Westchester defeated Bakersfield, 71-48; Washington defeated St. Bernard, 51-49.

Thousand Oaks defeated Sylmar, 67-35. Tyler Clem scored 19 points.

Trey Smith had 34 points in Saddleback Valley Christian’s 73-54 win over Lakewood. Los Alamitos defeated Whittier Christian, 52-44.

Dominique Hernandez scored 22 points to lead St. Bonaventure past Marymount, 59-50.

Grant defeated Reseda, 68-22. Avo Danielian scored 17 points and Antonio Tidwell 15.

Mater Dei defeated Eisenhower, 94-29. Justice Sueing scored 18 points and Reagan Lundeen 15.

Westlake won in the debut of new coach Kyle Kegley, defeating Roosevelt, 83-39. Adam Hess scored 27 points.

Paraclete defeated Eastside, 69-51. Chris Gayles scored 25 points.

Ryan Turrell had 26 points and 22 rebounds in Valley Torah’s 68-45 win over Malibu.

Central City defeated LACES, 72-58. Boe Nguidol had 21 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists.

Rancho Cucamonga defeated Bell Gardens, 73-27. Blake Griffith had 13 points.
