Boys’ basketball: Sam Sullivan steps down after 39 seasons at Fremont
Fremont Coach Sam Sullivan is retiring after 39 years at the school.
Sam Sullivan, the basketball coach at Fremont High for 39 seasons, has retired as head coach.
Sullivan guided the Pathfinders to City Section 3A titles in 1989, 1991 and 1992 and won 723 games, according to school statistics.
He was a dedicated Pathfinder and the longest tenured current coach in the City Section.
“It was a lot of fun and was a great ride,” Sullivan said. “I got to meet a lot of good people. I enjoyed every second of it. For me to come back to my old high school, it was a ball for me.”
He will be replaced by George McLin, an assistant coach for 16 years and a former Fremont player.
