Boys’ soccer: In battle of unbeatens, El Camino Real defeats Canoga Park, 1-0
It was the game of the year in City Section soccer and lived up to the hype.
Back and forth El Camino Real and Canoga Park players went in a battle of unbeaten teams during a first-round game of the Crespi tournament on Friday.
El Camino Real finally broke through on a goal by Mike Shver in the 59th minute to pull out a 1-0 win over the Hunters. Paul Makhtin came up with four saves in goal for the Conquistadores. El Camino Real improved to 8-0. Canoga Park is 6-1.
“They’re really good,” El Camino Real Coach David Hussey said. “They had some quality chances and Paul made some great saves.”
El Camino Real is considered the City Division I title favorite. Canoga Park is No. 1 in Division III.
Later in the day, El Camino Real defeated Sun Valley, 1-0.
