Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck was involved in a traffic accident Wednesday evening in the Simi Valley area, but he was not injured, authorities said.
The multi-vehicle collision was reported on the 118 Freeway near the Yosemite exit about 6:35 p.m., the
Los Angeles Police Department said.
Beck was in the vehicle with his driver, but neither one was injured, an LAPD spokeswoman said.
"I'm fine," Beck told The Times in a text message. He said there were no major injuries but that couple of people were transported to a hospital.
"I'll be at work tomorrow," the chief said.
Cmdr. Andrew Smith said preliminary information from the scene indicated that several vehicles were involved.
