A water main break in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles snarled traffic on Melrose Avenue on Tuesday morning as crews worked to repair the 8-inch line.
The leak was reported around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Melrose and Sweetzer avenues and affected 10 residences nearby, according to L.A. Department of Water and Power spokeswoman Ellen Cheng.
Melrose was temporarily closed in both directions between Harper and Sweetzer avenues as a result of the work.
Workers replaced the ruptured portion of pipe around 9 a.m., and Melrose was reopened to traffic by 1 p.m.
Crews characterized the break as a minor rupture.
