UCLA football: Tackle Simon Goines leaves practice with knee injury
UCLA had a key player hobble off the field Thursday.
Starting left tackle Simon Goines injured his right knee during a live scrimmage while the Bruins working on short-yardage situations. Goines was helped off the field and later carted to the training room.
UCLA Coach Jim Mora said after practice that Goines suffered a hyperextended knee. Mora said that Goines was not scheduled to undergo an MRI or X-ray.
“It’s minor,” Mora said. “He’ll be all right.”
Redshirt freshman Connor McDermott stepped in for Goines at left tackle after he was injured.
