This week’s top games:

FRIDAY

Ventura St. Bonaventure (2-1) vs. San Juan Capistrano JSerra (3-0) at Saddleback College, 7:30 p.m.

JSerra has aspirations of making the Pac-5 Division playoffs for the first time, and this nonleague game ought to show where the Lions stand. St. Bonaventure has good offensive balance and is led by USC-bound quarterback Ricky Town. The Seraphs are also getting better on defense. JSerra has a much improved offensive line and relies on standout senior quarterback Nick Robinson.

The pick: JSerra.

Mission Hills Alemany (3-0) vs. Dorsey (1-2) at Rancho Cienega Sports Complex, 7 p.m.

Dorsey’s defense gave unbeaten Santa Margarita all it could handle in a 21-10 Dons loss. Alemany’s speed is better than Santa Margarita’s, so that will challenge Dorsey, whose offense still must make improvement under quarterback Rodney Evans. Alemany has many offensive weapons, but receivers Desean Holmes and Brandon Pierce are becoming top targets for quarterback Blake Green.

The pick: Alemany.
