Baseball: Jake Suddleson’s three-run home run lifts Harvard-Westlake

Harvard-Westlake first-year Coach Jared Halpert isn’t doing too bad replacing Matt LaCour. His team is off to a 4-0 start and earned a spot in the championship game of the Easton tournament on Saturday with a 3-1 win over El Camino Real.

Jesse Bergin struck out five in six innings and Jake Suddleson hit a three-run home run. The Wolverines will face Burroughs in Wednesday’s 6:30 p.m. final at Birmingham High.

Burroughs 3, Moorpark 2: Jesse Galindo threw a complete game and Justin Palafox had two hits to lead the Indians. It was the first time any team has scored a run against Moorpark pitching this season. Greg Dominguez had two hits and two RBIs for Moorpark.

Cypress 4, Villa Park 0: The Centurions (5-0) stayed unbeaten behind pitcher James Acuna, who struck out 11 and allowed one hit.

JSerra 4, Eastvale Roosevelt 3: Royce Lewis scored on a wild pitch in the 13th inning.

St. John Bosco 2, Corona Santiago 1: Junior Johnny Kuhn threw the complete game, giving up five hits. Brice Turang had two of Santiago’s hits. The Braves were limited to one hit.

Ayala 4, Mission Viejo 3: Chris Burnette allowed two hits in a complete game.

Calabasas 3, Ventura 0: Grant Nechak threw a one-hitter and Parker Brahms had a double and home run. Joey Medellin and Diego Ramirez also hit home runs.

Murrieta Valley 1, Oceanside El Camino 0: Brent McDonald and Bradly Kay combined on an eight-inning no-hitter.

Granada Hills 2, St. Bonaventure 0: Gerardo Ramirez threw the shutout and Chris Murphy had two hits and two RBIs.

Simi Valley 3, Chatsworth 2: Shea Barry threw six innings to pick up the win. Turner Nelson had two hits and Tim Walgren had two RBIs.

Foothill 8, JW North 3: Nick Provenzano had four RBIs for Foothill.

La Mirada 8, Irvine 5: The Matadores got the win.

Agoura 5, Village Christian 4: Jonny DeLuca had two RBIs for the Chargers.

Hart 15, Crespi 0: Robert Reeves went five for five. Cole Roederer had a two-run home run.

Capistano Valley 1, Corona 0: Zak Herbers threw five shutout innings for the Cougars (2-0).

West Ranch 2, Birmingham 0: Tim Josten struck out 10 for West Ranch.

Westlake 11, Alemany 2: Grant Bunker and Mason Harvey each had three hits to lead Westlake.

Loyola 6, Camarillo 3: Stephen Burke and Joe Fortin contributed two hits apiece for the Cubs.

El Toro 2, Los Alamitos 1: Sam Glick struck out two, walked none and allowed three hits in six innings.

Beckman 5, Laguna Beach 4: Jake Groves, Sam Harline and Ryan Carpenter each had two hits for Beckman.

Quartz Hill 16, Taft 0: Tyler Cornish struck out eight in five innings. Tyler Vargas had four hits.

Valencia 11, Newbury Park 4: Ben Fariss had five RBIs and also threw six innings to pick up the win.

Royal 4, Bishop Montgomery 2: Tanner Faitro went three for three to lead the Highlanders.

Aliso Niguel 5, Long Beach Wilson 2: Freshman Evan Fitterer pitched into the fourth inning, giving up an infield single.

Oaks Christian 12, Malibu 1: Carson Rudd improved to 2-0 and Phil Quartararo had two hits and two RBIs.

Redondo 4, West Torrance 0: Sean Reynolds struck out eight and threw a four-hitter. Danny Zimmerman hit a home run.

Mira Costa 2, South Torrance 1: Freshman Merrick Baldo got the win and delivered game-winning RBI with two outs and two strikes in the eighth.

Cleveland 11, Oxnard Pacifica 1: The Cavaliers (8-0) advanced to the championship of the Southern California Invitational and will face Notre Dame. Sam Villa struck out five in a complete game. Chris Gonzalez and Gio Cheherlian each had two hits and three RBIs.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 8, Culver City 3: Hunter Greene hit a two-run home run and finished with three hits. Noah Taylor added two hits.

Sierra Canyon 18, Van Nuys 3: Billy Edwards had two hits and pitched four innings.

Albert Einstein 11 Avalon 7: Sean Burns struck out six in 5 1/3 innings.

Santa Margarita 6, Yorba Linda 1: Josh Nicoloff had three RBIs.

Narbonne 6, Peninsula 3: Isaiah Flowers had two hits and Airan Martinez threw 6 1/3 innings to get the win.

Woodbridge 7, Dana Hills 6: Woodbridge improved to 4-0 in winning the eight-inning game.

Orange Lutheran 3, Palm Desert 0: Jason Farese threw a four-hit shutout.

Servite 9, Vista Murrieta 1: The Friars stayed unbeaten. Michael Frias struck out six in four innings. Aaron Simpson had two hits.

Paloma Valley 2, Crescenta Valley 1: The Falcons dropped an eight-inning game. Trevor Beer struck out five and walked none in six innings for Crescenta Valley.
