Boys’ basketball: Jarod Lucas opens with 34 points in Los Altos victory

Los Altos returns all five starters, including talented sophomore Jarod Lucas, so it was no surprise that the Conquerors raced to 108-64 victory over Paramount on Tuesday in their season debut.

Lucas scored 34 points.

No. 1 Sierra Canyon cruised to a 101-42 in over Golden Valley. Marvin Bagley III had 26 points and Cody Riley 12. Bagley’s freshman brother, Marcus, had 11 points.

Crespi defeated Calabasas, 58-55. Devon Rojo scored 18 points. Zach Favaedi led Calabasas with 22 points. Westlake defeated Chatsworth, 55-53. Camarillo defeated Campbell Hall, 90-77. Jaime Jaquez had 29 points. Mike Meadows led Campbell Hall with 22 points.

In the big matchup of the night at Sierra Canyon, Alemany held off La Canada, 68-61, in overtime. 59-59 Justin Kouyoumdjian of La Canada had 32 points, including eight threes.

Charles Neal scored 25 points and Brayan Talley 19 in Rancho Mirage’s 106-49 win over Calexico.

Joey Walsh scored 25 points in St. Francis’ 70-67 win over Mira Costa.

JSerra defeated Newport Harbor, 69-52, behind 29 points from Sebastian Much. Riverside Poly is 7-0 after a 79-62 win over Pacific. Tobin Kund had 21 points and DJ Davis 20.

Cameron Shelton had 25 points and 10 rebounds and Justin Hemsley added 18 points and 13 rebounds in Damien’s 89-66 win over Kaiser. Elijah McCullough also had 18 points.

In the University tournament, View Park Prep defeated Cleveland, 68-28. Los Angeles defeated Valley Academy, 64-50. Palisades defeated North Hollywood, 65-45. Dayne Downey had 20 points.

In the Beverly Hills tournament, freshman Demetrius Calip made a three with just over a minute left to help Taft overcome Brentwood, 49-46.

Birmingham improved to 6-0 with a 92-58 win over Gardena Serra. Brothers Devonaire and Devante Doutrive scored 24 points apiece.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart defeat St. Monica, 63-35. Avery Martinez had 18 points.

The Beverly Hills schedule Wednesday: Windward vs. Leuzinger, 2 p.m.; Beverly Hills vs. El Camino Real, 3:30 p.m.; Loyola vs. Washington, 5 p.m.; Taft vs. Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 6:30 p.m.; Birmingham vs. Santa Monica, 8 p.m.

Heritage Christian stayed unbeaten with an 83-71 win over Saugus. Juhwan Dyson-Harris had 27 points and seven rebounds. Jonathan Daniels added 18 points. Heritage Christian is 7-0.

Valley Torah defeated San Fernando Valley Academy, 96-23. Max Leibowitz scored 24 points.
