Boys’ basketball: Namon Wright leads an improving Pacific Hills

Share

Pacific Hills, the defending state Division IV champion which lost most of its players to graduation, has begun to make improvement behind its big-time returnee, Namon Wright, a Missouri signee.

The Bruins are 12-8 overall and unbeaten in the Coastal League. Wright is averaging close to 23 points a game, with a 42-point game against Compton and a 40-point game against Long Beach Millikan. Junior Andre Ferguson is averaging 18 points a game.

Wright guarded Tyler Burch of Westminster and held him to 12 points last week after Burch had scored 34, 28, 42 and 31 points.

“We’re starting to put things together,” Coach Ivan Barahona said.

Barahona is scheduled to leave for El Salvador at the end of next month for a week. He’s head coach of the El Salvador national team.
