Boys' basketball: Tra Holder scores 27 points in Brentwood victory

 Arizona State-bound point guard Tra Holder made an impressive debut on Monday, scoring 27 points to lead Brentwood past Culver City, 62-48, in an opening game of the Santa Monica tournament.

Loyola defeated Locke, 79-36. Parker Jackson-Cartwright had 16 points and Max Hazzard 15. Santa Monica defeated Palisades, 63-55.

In the Maranatha tournament, Lonzo Ball had 21 points in Chino Hills' 81-46 win over Venice.

In the Mission Viejo tournament, No. 1 Mater Dei defeated Australia Churchie, 87-45. Stanley Johnson had 32 points and Rex Plfueger 18. Mission Viejo defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 76-71. Chandler Hutchison had 27 points and made 13 of 15 free throws.

In the Westchester tournament, Justin Bibbins scored 25 points in Bishop Montgomery's 72-55 win over Narbonne. El Camino Real defeated San Pedro, 101-62. Julian Richardson led the way with 20 points. Evan Wardlow and Maleke Haynes added 15 apiece.

Windward defeated Peninsula, 57-45. Freshman Jalen Harris had 14 points in his prep debut. Roy Hemsley had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Taft defeated Santa Maria St. Joseph, 73-50, with Chris Sandifer scoring 28 points. West Valley League rivals Taft and El Camino Real will play on Wednesday.

In the San Fernando Valley Invitational, Jeremiah Gray scored 15 points in Westlake's 71-54 win over Quartz Hil. Crespi defeated St. Genevieve, 87-39. Max Heidegger finished with 21 points. Alemany defeated Monroe, 94-37. Daron Henson contributed 23 points and 12 rebounds. Shacquille Dawkins had 19 points and seven assists. Brandon Boyd added 16 points.

Royal defeated Knight, 73-57. Sebastian Gahito had 18 points and eight assists. Austin Arnoldini added 16 points.

In the St. Monica tournament, Oak Park defeated Verbum Dei, 65-48. Cole Micek had 21 points and five assists. L.A.. University defeated New Designs Charter, 107-38, in the St. Monica tournament. Vikash Singh had 16 points. Tyler Cartaino had 21 points and Kevin Russell 18 in Newbury Park's 72-51 win over St. Monica. Hamilton defeated Hawthorne, 64-48. Evan Burton scored 19 points.

At the Ocean View tournament, Orange Lutheran defeated Verdugo Hills, 75-61. CJ Hankins had 19 points, Rogers Printout 16 and Keisean Lucier-South 10. El Toro defeated Dorsey, 100-63.

Tesoro defeated Downey, 65-64, with Nathan Smith getting the game-winning basket with three seconds left.

Mission Viejo defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 76-71. Chandler Hutchison had 27 points and made 13 of 15 free throws.

In the Burbank tournament, Village Christian defeated Golden Valley, 65-19.
