Boys’ basketball: Windward, Sierra Canyon are popular among college recruiters

Mark down Jan. 7 on your calendar. It’s the day Sierra Canyon hosts Windward in a Gold Coast League basketball game, and there will be so many future college players on the court that you might want to take a photo for longevity sake.

Windward is loaded with rising young prospects. Shareef O’Neal, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, has offers from UCLA and USC. Jules Bernard, a 6-6 sophomore, has eight offers, including UCLA and USC. Payton Moore, a 6-4 sophomore, has offers from Boise State and USC. Junior guard Jalen Harris is receiving Ivy League interest, among others.

Sierra Canyon’s roster is filled with college prospects. Cody Riley, a 6-8 junior, is being pursued by UCLA. Ira Lee, a 6-8 junior, has Arizona, California and USC in pursuit. Remy Martin, a junior guard, has a Kansas offer. Senior point guard Devearl Ramsey has offers from Washington, Oregon State and USC.

And Sierra Canyon just added 6-8 junior Stefan Kljajic, a foreign-exchange student from Montenegro who speaks four languages and is an A student.

So get ready for an intriguing season ahead of Gold Coast League basketball. And if you want to go to the Sierra Canyon-Windward game, you might want to show up a little early.
