City Section proposes penalties for coaches who don’t report scores

Share

There’s a proposal working its way through the City Section Board of Managers that would penalize coaches who fail to post their scores on MaxPreps.com.

A final proposal will be voted on in April.

Under the proposal, a first punishment for not posting scores will be the coach being barred from coaching in a first-round playoff game and the school having to play all its playoff games on the road along with a one-year probation.

A second violation would result in the school not being allowed into the playoffs.

The reason posting scores is so important to the City Section is that seeding committees use a formula from MaxPreps that includes a team’s win-loss record and strength of schedule.

This season, basketball coaches will be subjected to the rule for the upcoming playoffs. Other sports will be affected if the rule is approved.
