Football: North Hollywood upsets Bernstein behind QB Jesus Castaneda
After a 7-7 halftime time, North Hollywood wore down Bernstein and knocked off the No. 1 team in City Section Division III, 27-14, on Friday night.
“It’s definitely my biggest win in the program,” said second-year Coach Carlos Trujillo. “I’m very proud of the players.”
Leading the Huskies was quarterback-free safety Jesus Castaneda, a three-sport standout who was asked to play quarterback this season.
He broke off a 52-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
“He’s a great leader,” Trujillo said. “He’s becoming comfortable in the position.”
Bernstein fell to 3-1. The Dragons have had trouble against double-wing teams, having lost to Sun Valley Poly last season with a similar offense.
