L.A. Cathedral High is investigating alleged hazing incident

The L.A. Cathedral High administration has launched an investigation into an alleged hazing incident from Tuesday afternoon, principal Brother John Montgomery said Thursday.

Ten students have been suspended, including eight football players who will miss Friday’s game against St. Francis.

Montgomery said police have been notified to help with the investigation.

Administrators from the all-boys Catholic school met with the team Wednesday, and players were told about suspensions. The incident involved freshmen and seniors and took place in and out of the team room, football Coach Kevin Pearson said.

“It’s a developing matter involving minors, and I do not have any comment,” Montgomery said in an email.

Cathedral’s football team is 7-0 and ranked No. 1 in the Southeast Division.
