Track: Michael Norman runs quick times for Vista Murrieta in top dual meet
How can it be the dual meet of the year in track and field coming in March?
Well, the answer is what happened on Thursday in the meet between Vista Murrieta and Great Oak. Both the boys and girls competitions produced top performances. Vista Murrieta won both meets, with the girls coming down to the final relay.
Among the notable boys’ performances, Vista Murrieta junior Michael Norman won the 200 in 20.71 and the 400 in 47.90. His 200 time is the fastest in Riverside County history, according to PrepCalTrack.com.
Vista Murrieta’s Antonio Mitchell and Cole Dubots ran 10.57 and 10.68, respectively, in finishing one-two in the 100. Isaac Cortes led a Great Oak sweep in the 800, winning in 1:57.03.
In girls, Amanda Van Burren of Vista Murrieta won the 100 in 11.94 and the 200 in 25.23. Destiny Collins of Great Oak won the 3,200 in 10:54.28 and the 1,600 in 5:00.15.
