Chivas also said that it had waived defender Lawson Vaughn, who was limited to only seven games last season and none this year because of injuries. In addition, Chivas put midfielder Sasha Victorine on the disabled list because of a concussion. Defender Jim Curtin underwent left ankle surgery Wednesday and will be out for 12 weeks. Also, forward Jorge Flores on Friday was named to the U.S. team that will take part in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt next month. Finally, Chivas said it would be playing its “parent” club, Chivas de Guadalajara, at the Rose Bowl at 8 p.m. on Sept. 23. Galaxy forward Landon Donovan and Chivas defender Jonathan Bornstein will leave Sunday to join the U.S. national team for its Sept. 5 and 9 World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago, respectively. Galaxy midfielder Chris Birchall also will leave to join the Trinidad and Tobago team.
