Jon Gruden says he’s not interested in coaching in 2014

Jon Gruden has a pretty good gig at ESPN, and he’s not going to give it up any time soon to return to the sidelines as coach of the Houston Texans -- or any other team for that matter.

The man who coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their only Super Bowl victory confirmed to the network that he will remain in place as an NFL analyst, including his spot alongside Mike Tirico in the “Monday Night Football” booth, at least through the 2014 season.

“I’m just trying to do my job,” Gruden said. “I’m not going to address every little rumor or supposed conversation that takes place, according to these so-called sources.”

He added: “There are a lot of good coaches out there available to coach these teams. I’m just hoping ESPN likes the job I’m doing. That’s my focus.”

Since that’s the case, it’s good Gruden is nipping this in the bud. Because he’s right -- there is and would continue to be speculation regarding the veteran coach every time a vacancy pops up.

The Texans just happened to be the first team this season to fire their coach when they let go of Gary Kubiak on Friday.

The funny thing is, guess who fueled the Gruden-to-Houston talk?
