Update: UCLA’s nip-and-tuck pitcher Adam Plutko (8-3, 2.35 earned-run average) will try to extend his postseason success. Plutko, a junior, is 5-0 with an 0.82 ERA in six postseason starters during his career. LSU counters with sophomore Aaron Nola, who is projected as a first-round pick in 2014. Nola is 12-0 with a 1.68 ERA and has struck out 117 batters in 118 innings. The Tigers have a .308 batting average, with Mason Katz hitting .366 with 15 home runs and 68 runs batted in. The Bruins have a .251 batting average with 19 home runs as a team. UCLA’s bullpen may be the best in the nation; closer David Berg is 7-0 with 21 saves and an 0.88 ERA.
