It appears we have another baseball controversy.
Game 3 of the World Series on Saturday night was decided on a controversial call which allowed the
Third base umpire James Joyce (of Armando Galaraga's would-be perfect game fame) ruled that Red Sox third baseman
Joyce claimed the call was made after Middlebrooks put his feet into the air after the bad throw, thereby obstructing Craig's ability to run home on the play.
Farrell said he couldn't understand how Middlebrooks was expected to get out the way when he's lying on the ground after making a play, calling it a "tough pill to swallow."
