Chipper Jones rescues snowbound ex-teammate Freddie Freeman in Atlanta

Share

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman found himself in the same situation as many residents of Atlanta on Tuesday -- stuck in an epic traffic jam caused by a rare winter storm.

Going on 5 and a half hours in this traffic! Atlanta traffic is the worst but then you add snow...woah!!— Freddie Freeman (@FreddieFreeman5) January 28, 2014

But unlike many of those stranded motorists, Freeman eventually was able to escape the gridlock, because he was most likely the only one of them who knows retired Braves star Chipper Jones.

After learning his former teammate was in distress, Jones jumped on his four-wheeler and headed out to the rescue, as documented on Twitter by his girlfriend, Taylor Higgins.

About five hours after sending out his tweet about being stuck, Freeman was greeted by his smiling friend.

Freeman was able to get his car into a parking lot and was taken somewhere much warmer by Jones.

They made it home safe and sound! #thankful @RealCJ10 @FreddieFreeman5 pic.twitter.com/KBO59VL1HU— Taylor Higgins (@lilgeorgiapeach) January 29, 2014

So after an incredibly long day -- Freeman said the entire ordeal lasted 11 hours -- this story came to a warm and happy ending.

Guess what?? It’s really cold on the streets of Roswell and crabapple on a 4 wheeler! But my boy @FreddieFreeman5 was stranded. I got you!— Chipper Jones (@RealCJ10) January 29, 2014

He hugged me the whole way home!— Chipper Jones (@RealCJ10) January 29, 2014
