Defending Olympic champion Mexico will open defense of its title in the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament at the StubHub Center in Carson in October.
Two Group B games will be played on both Oct. 2 and Oct. 4. The U.S. will head Group A, which will begin play Oct. 1 at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan. Canada has also qualified for the tournament with the rest of the eight-team field to be determined in Central America and the Caribbean qualifying games in August.
Group play will conclude in Denver on Oct. 6-7, with the top two teams in each group advancing to Salt Lake City for the semifinals and the Oct. 13 final. Both finalists earn automatic berths in the 2016 Olympic tournament in Brazil.
Mexico also played its opening group-play game at the StubHub Center three years ago before going on to London and beating Brazil in the Olympic final, winning the country’s first soccer gold medal.
