UCLA linebacker Myles Jack says he learned his lesson
A contrite Myles Jack faced the media music Wednesday, in his first interview since being tossed out of UCLA football practice Monday.
Jack was thrown out for a inflammatory verbal taunt hurled at tackle Caleb Benenoch. He called it a “lesson in growing up.”
“That was embarrassing,” Jack said. “My mom called me. She wasn’t too happy about that. I just got to control my temper. We’re hot out here and we’re all going hard and everything. I just have to be better in that situation.”
It was a reminder to Jack of the microscope he is under. The sophomore linebacker, who has also played running back, became a high-profile player last season, when he was named the Pac-12’s offensive and defensive freshman of the year.
“Never again,” Jack said. “That was the old me. I’ve changed.”
As to who was harder on him, his mother or Coach Jim Mora, Jack said, “My mom … by a lot.”
